Description
Wasps are black and yellow striped with a distinctive 'waist', 10-15mm in length and can produce a painful sting.
Biology
The queen hybernates sometime between September and April. In spring she will begin to build her nest, this can be in loft spaces, sheds and garages where they can present a risk to residents.
When the nest has matured, workers will begin to feed on sweet foods and this is when they become a nuisance and possible danger to humans. Wasps will sting if they feel threatened. Some people have a severe reaction to wasp stings which can sometimes be fatal.
Treatment
You should contact a profesional pest controller if you have a wasp nest that needs to be treated. BPM Bird and Pest Management will safely treat wasp nests using the correct protective clothing and apply insecticides using extendable application equipment. This minimises the risk of wasps becoming agressive during and after treatment.
Our treatments are guaranteed effective.
